Biochemistry

Biochemistry (CHEM314) Biochemistry is when chemistry finally meets organic life—even organic chemistry is more about memorizing reactions than understanding the biological processes that work together to create a living thing.  Make no mistake; biochemistry is not easier than organic chemistry. It is inevitable that you will memorize every amino acid, the biological process of breaking down sugar into energy, storing energy, and several other metabolic processes. However, for students that have issues memorizing a great volume of small factoids that don't seem to fit together, this kind of study will be a tad easier.  The trick is to use the big picture.  This class was taught by Dr. Isabelle Taylor during 2023's spring semester.  Course Content  Textbook  Biochemistry: The Molecular Basis of Life , 7th Edition   Week 1: Water & Noncovalent Bonds, Part I " What is Biochemistry? Intermediate Chinese (202)

Intermediate Chinese (CHIN202)  The following content is from the spring semester of 2023.  Chinese is a difficult language, but it is also a fulfilling challenge. Be prepared to dedicate a significant amount of time to vocabulary practice and drilling. Su 老师 (Teacher Su) is an excellent professor as well. She accepts print-outs of the Student Activities Manual, so you can save a little money by printing the pages instead of buying the book.  No student enjoys being cold-called, but it's also an invaluable and inevitable part of Chinese class.  The best way to study for exams in the William & Mary Chinese department is to study Language in Use. Additionally, utilize the practice sheets; they're not just homework! Spending time to develop muscle memory when writing out characters can be the make-or-break points on an exam.  The worksheet generators tend to fill in their own PinYin, so you should double check before you practice! Course Content  Textbook  Chinese Link Level 2
